IX Renewables provided advisory services to support with the O&M strategy in Eurus’s onshore wind project in Spain. The focus of the project was to estimate the project’s availability and OPEX, research the viability of taking over the O&M scope (outside of OEM’s SAA) at a certain point in time and research the viability of extending the windfarm’s lifetime.
IX Renewables in house tool SOMOS was utilized to simulate different scenarios for the operation and maintenance (O&M) of the wind farm. Combining input on failure rates, spare parts and related logistics for repair, the tool uses stochastic analyses to simulate the life of a windfarm on 1-hour intervals and calculate the windfarm’s availability and downtimes.
To provide the link to monetary values, the in –house-developed operational expenditure (OPEX) model was used, to verify the results in terms of OPEX costs.
With its built-in sensitivity studies, the OPEX model was used for easy comparison of different scenario’s resulting from SOMOS in terms of OPEX costs and wind turbine availability.
The outcomes of the simulations have been thoroughly assessed and discussed with Eurus, and with the set of different scenarios that were studied, IX Renewables was able to advise Eurus on their O&M strategy for this wind project.
IX Renewables delivered exceptional service in analyzing and determining the optimal scenario for our onshore wind farm’s operation and maintenance from a commercial perspective. Their insights were instrumental in helping us establish the project structure effectively. We are highly satisfied with their expertise and support.
